How do you spot a qualified Executive Life Coach?
The problem with people nowadays is that they do not have a goal in life. This is true not just for the more youthful generation but is likewise real for the older ones.
There are now people whose job is to help people determine their objectives in life and help them achieve those objectives.
These people are called life coaches or, like me, Executive Life Coaches. With many people calling themselves life coaches, how do you identify a competent executive life coach who could really and effectively assist you?
What is an Executive Life Coach?
The first step in finding a qualified life coach is knowing what a life coach truly is. The task description of a life coach is someone who aims to help people determine their objectives and achieve them.
A life coach practices life training, which uses techniques developed in executive coaching.
A life coach utilises numerous different techniques and methods to assist people. These techniques were established from management and leadership training and management consulting.
Typical Misconceptions About Executive Life Coaching
Individuals have several misunderstandings about life coaching. Some believe that life coaching is associated with treatment or assessment.
Life training is neither of those things!
These mistaken beliefs, though, can be credited to the different motivations of life training. The practice of life coaching, as well as its concepts, is rooted in other disciplines. These include psychology, sociology, career therapy, favourable adult advancement, and mentoring.
Certified Life Coach
Now that you have a concept of what a life coach is and is not, you currently have the essentials of identifying a certified life coach.
He or she is someone who aims to assist people with their goals, and she or he is not a therapist or someone who treats a person with mental and psychological health problems.
These are simply the essentials and will not be adequate in determining whether an individual is genuinely a certified executive life coach.
Life training has no main regulatory standards or governed training or education; thus, anybody can call themselves a life coach.
The absence of these standards suggests that no certificate can prove they are qualified life coaches. This likewise indicates that no life coach training will give an individual any standardised certification.
However, some regulatory bodies work hard to establish standards across the profession to protect people. I am a Fellow of the International Authority for Professional Coaching & Mentoring (IAPC&M)
What do you do?
There are 2 methods to set about this.
First, by word of mouth, and the other is training experience. Word of mouth means that many people are saying good things about that specific life coach, and they aspire to advise his/her services to other people. They will also be the persons who can inform you about the effectiveness of that life coach.
Another factor of a qualified life coach is training experience. This is different from an “unsteady life coach certificate.” You should remember that life training uses techniques like values evaluation, mentoring, habits modelling, habits adjustment, goal setting and other methods.
Since these are the tools of his or her trade, a life coach should have training in at least one of these fields.
Last but not least, a certified life coach is somebody who you can quickly interact with. Even if a life coach possesses whatever is mentioned above, if you do not “click” with each other, then that specific individual is “not” approved for you. This, however, is speaking from a subjective viewpoint.
The first action in spotting a qualified life coach is knowing what a life coach truly is. A life coach practices life coaching, utilising techniques established in executive training.
Now that you know what a life coach is and what it is not, you already have the essentials of finding what a certified life coach is.
